Ernst started his corporate finance career in 2005 at the M&A department of NIBC Bank in the Netherlands. He subsequently worked for NIBC in Frankfurt, Germany returning to the Netherlands in 2009 to become Director Strategy of NIBC to further develop its corporate and strategic agenda. He was appointed Head of Corporate Finance in 2017 taking responsibility for NIBC’s M&A and Debt & Equity advisory activities in the Netherlands and Germany. He joined Nielen Schuman as a Partner in 2018.
His investment banking experience spans over 13 years and includes a wide range of assignments across sectors for corporate and private equity clients, in public as well as private settings. Notable recent transactions include advising Goldman Sachs Merchant Banking Division on its investment in Caldic, J.C. Flowers on its acquisition of HSH Nordbank and Ergon Capital Partners on its acquisition of Keesing Media Group.
Ernst holds a Master’s degree in Financial Economics from the Erasmus University in Rotterdam. He enjoys running, cycling and playing tennis.
